If your existing cabinets are in good shape an easy way to give them a quick refresh is to hire a professional to have them painted. Tearing out old cabinets is a big undertaking and can be very disruptive to your day-to-day life. Painting is much less invasive as you still get access to your kitchen and in most cases you don’t even have to empty out your cabinets. Most kitchen cabinets can be painted and reinstalled within 1-2 weeks! The biggest advantage though is the money you will save.

Additional changes can be made to your existing cabinets such as extending your cabinets to the ceiling and adding crown molding etc.. Since you are working with existing cabinets, there is no disruption to your existing flooring or appliances. Its also great for the environment! If its been a while since your countertop and splash have been updated, I would highly recommend changing those out at the same time. New door pulls and knobs can also be added as an inexpensive upgrade. If selected in advanced, the holes for your current pulls/knobs in your cabinet can be filled and new ones added while they are being refinished.

If your cabinet doors are in rough shape or you’re unhappy with the door profile, another alternative to completely redoing your kitchen is having your cabinets refaced. The cost to do this is going to be more than having your existing ones painted, but is still a less expensive alternative to completely redoing your kitchen. Keep in mind that your cabinet boxes will remain the same and although an island could be added to your kitchen (provided you have the space), your overall layout will stay the same.

Kitchen renovations can be very costly, but they don’t need to be if you’re ok with keeping your current layout. Whether you decide to paint your existing cabinets or have them refaced, the overall costs are less expensive, less material going into the landfill, less disruptive and can be completed in a fraction of the time of ordering new ones.

We work with a number of highly skilled professionals and would be happy to provide you with a quote for your kitchen renovation.
