We are so excited to show you some behind the scene pictures of our recent new build project called ‘The Lake Residence’! We absolutely loved working with Enstyle Homes and the homeowner to help turn his vision into reality. Many hours went into creating this bachelor pad and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

Like any design project, it always starts with a drawing. The construction drawings were created from scratch in order to tailor the layout to the client’s lifestyle. Small changes were then adjusted on site during framing to ensure we had everything just right! The construction drawings were completed mid-April 2017 and were later sent off for permitting.

Finishes were selected early on to avoid delays. The home owner wanted brown millwork and a grey colour pallet, giving the home a more masculine feel.

By September the framing for the entire home was nearly completed! This property was beginning to look like a home!

Basements always feel cooler than the rest of the home and with winter being 7 months of the year, we decided to add in-floor heating throughout the lower level. How nice is that going to be in the middle of January!

A month later and this home was really starting to transform. Windows… check! Drywall… check! Electrical and plumbing rough-ins… check, check!

Before we knew it, it was time to move in all of the furniture to really make it look and feel like a home!

The main floor turned out beautifully! A floor to ceiling stone fireplace (Julian Tile Ritz Grey Cubics) with decorative millwork columns on either side really made this a showpiece for this open floor concept. The large scale 24″ x 24″ tiles from Alberta Carpet fit the style of this home perfectly and are so easy to maintain. Dulux’s Designer Grey paint was the perfect backdrop for the darker and more masculine colours used in this home.

We love the look of Julian’s Subway Lab series as the field tile paired with their Appiani Metal mosaic for some added bling. CBM’s sheer roller shades allow light into the rooms while still providing privacy. A custom motorized blind was installed over the master patio door for ease of use… who doesn’t love technology?

Continuing downstairs, a beverage station was added with a hidden microwave for late night popcorn. This rec room was furnished with a large 5 piece sectional, bubble hockey table and a modern pool table for the perfect guy’s retreat! A nearby bathroom, with a glass curtain wall, completes this space.

Last, but certainly not least, the exterior! The dark stone cladding really stands out against the light grey siding, adding depth and texture. Windows with black trim were also selected to give it a more modern feel and to tie in with the black interior accents.

  1. I loved how the entrance and garage doors match. Trendy!
You’ve added some creative touches with the dropped ceiling box over the dining room table, tiled design backsplash, coffee nook, wrap around fireplace mantel, and my favorite – the t.v. in the bathtub area to relax while soaking.
I’ve always found shower curtains darken the bath/shower area while shower doors make me feel closed in. Your use of the 1/3 glass wall for the 2nd bathtub eliminates those concerns. Love it.
In-floor heating throughout the basement? I’m envious.
    Awesome job!
